Event Overview
In order to achieve the net zero emission target set by the Paris Agreement, diffusing low carbon technologies around the world by collaborating with public and private sectors through different approaches such as policy and project-level, are becoming more important. This seminar aims to introduce varieties types of public-private collaborations such as JCM projects led by NEDO together with JCM partner countries, the Japanese government’s public-private initiative called "Cleaner Energy Future Initiative for ASEAN (CEFIA)", and other activities carried by Climate Technology Centre & Network (CTCN) and Carbon Trust in the UK offering a host of COP26.

Event Summary
Firstly, NEDO introduced its activity and project examples of Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM). Next, METI presented the Japanese government’s public-private initiative called "Cleaner Energy Future Initiative for ASEAN (CEFIA)", followed by the presentations by Climate Technology Centre & Network (CTCN) , Carbon Trust and Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO).
In the panel discussion, the challenges and solutions encouraging public-private collaboration were broadly discussed among the panelists. In concretely, one of the speakers raised the importance of international platform with introducing the Japanese government’s climate change initiative called "Innovation for Cool Earth Forum (ICEF)". And then, the panelists highlighted the government’s roles such as providing financial support for high-risk projects, showing future foresight by roadmaps and establishing law and rules in order to enhance the activities of private sectors.
