Key Messages
  • BUR and Paris Agreement introduced new requirements on national GHG inventory: periodical preparation, ICA and review, and continuous improvement.
  • Inter-ministerial coordination became more urgent than ever for capacity building projects on inventory. Improvement in sectoral statistics can ensure not only periodical data collection but also co-benefit to line ministries.
  • Capacity building on responding to international inquiry and improving methodology may not be completed within a project lifetime. Long-term platforms, such as WGIA, are expected to play a key role in this aspect.
