Sustainable Agriculture and Innovationin the Asia-Monsoon Region -challenges, opportunities and enhanced collaboration in the region-
As part of its efforts to initiate the implementation of the ASEAN-Japan MIDORI Cooperation Plan, adopted at the ASEAN-Japan Ministers of Agricultrure and Forestry Meeting on October 4, 2023, MAFF Japan will host a seminar on Sustainable agriculture and Innovation in the Asia-Monsoon region with a view to contributing to its efforts for promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the ASEAN region based on the MIDORI Strategy and for formulating concrete projects, including through the utilization of the Joint Crediting Mechanism.

Session Summary
The MAFF Seminar 'Sustainable Agriculture and Innovation in the Asia-Monsoon region' was held on 10th December (Food, Agriculture and Water Day). In the Seminar, H.E. Ichiro Miyashita, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, delivered an opening remark via video message introducing domestic and international activities based on the MIDORI Strategy and the ASEAN-Japan MIDORI Cooperation Plan including the forthcoming initiation of a consortium including public and private stakeholders.
Keynote was delivered by H.E. Dr. Maria Helena Semedo, DDG of FAO, welcoming the strengthening of ASEAN-Japan cooperation under the MIDORI Cooperation Plan. From the AMS, H.E. Dr. Chan Phaoleon, Undersecretary of State, MAFF Cambodia, Dr. Thatsaka Saphangthong, DG of MAF Lao PDR, Dr. Haris Syahbuddin, Executive Secretary of MoA Indonesia participated in the presentation and panel discussion. Japanese private companies, Sagri Co. Ltd., Ajinomoto Co. Inc., and Faeger Co. Ltd. participated in the discussion and introduced their climate smart technologies.
