Abstract

The Kunming Montreal Biodiversity Framework, a new global goal for 2030, was adopted in December 2022. In order to realize the Nature Positive goal of halting and reversing biodiversity loss by 2030, as stated in the framework, economic transformation is crucial. The objective of this seminar is to share widely the technologies, products, and business models that contribute to the realization of Nature Positive. Specifically, the G7 Alliance on Nature Positive Economies, established at the G7 Sapporo Meeting, will present the results of its activities.
Bridging this high-level policy engagement to on-the-ground nature-positive activities driven by the business community is essential to translate global goals into practical action. This connection ensures that environmental policies are effectively implemented, facilitating the engagement of businesses in tangible initiatives that contribute to halting and reversing nature loss.
In this seminar, we share and discuss about the case studies of business sectors and collaboration between G7ANPE and business towards NPE, including the synergies with GHG Zero Emission.

In this seminar, we shared the case studies of business sectors and collaboration between G7ANPE and business towards NPE, including the synergies with GHG Zero Emission. We also discussed the possibility of collaborative projects in the Alliance, and the economy we should aim for is "an economy where protecting nature is more profitable/less costly than destroying it. Lastly, the Italian government, which will chair the G7 and the G7ANPE in 2024, made closing remarks and pledged its commitment to the further development of the Alliance.
Message and Results
G7 established the G7 Alliance on Nature Positive Economies in April 2023 to promote a nature-positive economy, and has been conducting activities including international workshops. As a summary of our activities over the past year, we believe it is significant that we were able to co-host this seminar with the business community at COP28 as the emphasis is on the integrated assessment of climate change and nature-positive economies. Based on this trend, we will continue to promote our activities after 2024 under the leadership of Italy.
