| Contents | Eco-Mo Foundation published "Transport and Environment in Japan 2016 (TEJ2016)", which provides comprehensive information on environmental problems and challenges in the transport and transportation sector (global warming, air pollution, waste, recycling, marine pollution, noise, etc.). Eco-Mo Foundation will distribute TEJ2016 and give a lecture on the TEJ2016 with a focus on measures being taken in response to global warming issues in the transport sector in Japan. JAMA will then give a lecture on measures being implemented for automobiles and ITS. |

The Eco-mo Foundation provides comprehensive information on the current situation and countermeasures against environmental problems (e.g., global warming, exhaust gas, waste, recycling, noise, marine pollution) in the transportation sector in Japan through the published English version of "Transport and Environment in Japan 2016 (TEJ 2016)." At the event, TEJ2016 was first distributed to participants, and the Eco-mo Foundation announced efforts to counter global warming in the transport sector in this book (TEJ2016). In the first half of the presentation, after explaining the current state of greenhouse gas emissions, CO2 emission source units of the transportation sector, and structure of countermeasures against global warming in the transport sector of Japan, I individually explained the representative examples of automobile stand-alone countermeasures, traffic flow countermeasures, logistic measures, public transport measures, etc. In the second half of the presentation, I explained about the initiatives of the Eco-Mo Foundation. Specifically, I explained about the green management certification system, eco-commuting, eco-driving, environmentally sustainable transportation (EST), traffic environment learning, eco-products exhibitions and eco product awards, and transport tourism carbon offsets. Next, the reduction of CO2 emissions in the road transportation sector in Japan was published by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association. In the first half of the presentation, I explained about the present situation in Japan; specifically, I explained about the current state of the emissions in the transport sector and medium-term goals. I also explained about integrated measures and the importance of simultaneously carrying out balanced automobile stand-alone measures, traffic flow measures, driver behavior countermeasures, and energy diversity. Because along with improvement of fuel economy and measures concerning traffic flow and efficient transportation need to be carried out as medium-term countermeasures, and spread of eco driving also needs to be promoted, we introduced specific efforts for each in the second half of the presentation. Finally, as a long-term countermeasure, I explained that the further spread of next-generation cars and integrated measures according to the circumstances of each country are important. |

In Japan, CO2 emissions in the transport sector, which are already on a downward trend, are likely to increase rapidly in Asia and around the world. Through this brochure, we will continue introducing Japanese global warming countermeasures to each country Along with popularizing the superior technology of Japan (e.g., next generation cars) around the world with the aim of achieving the targets of the Paris Agreement (e.g., 2℃ target), it is important to promote effective "integrated measures" in each country to reduce emissions in the transport sector. |
