Global Climate Action Summit

The 2018 Summit will bring together leaders from state, tribal, and local governments, business, and citizens from around the world, to demonstrate how the tide has turned in the race against climate change, showcase climate action taking place around the world, and inspire deeper commitments from each other and from national governments—in support of the Paris Agreement.

Symposium Toward a 100% Renewable Energy Society — Multi-Stakeholder Initiatives in Japan —

This symposium will facilitate a dynamic discussion among renewable energy leaders from both domestic and international arenas with the aim to enhance efforts in wide-ranging sectors and further accelerate the transition to sustainable energy. The symposium will serve as a multi-stakeholder Talanoa Dialogue* involving the national and local governments, private sector, and NGOs. The venue is provided by the Chiba University of Commerce, the first university in Japan to formally commit to aim 100% renewable energy.

ISAP- the International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific

The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) organises its annual headline event, the International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific (ISAP), with a view to engage the region’s key decision-makers and forward-thinking leaders in substantive discussions about actionable approaches for realising sustainable development. In addition to IGES’s 20th Anniversary, 2018 marks ISAP’s tenth year, and from 18-19 July 2018 the event will again play host to a wide number of participants from Japan and around the world in the beautiful port city of Yokohama.

On Thursday, 14 June 2018, we will hold a study group for local governments and companies that are working on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Various topics related to the Talanoa Dialogue will be discussed, such as the background and purpose of the Dialogue, progress so far, report of the Talanoa Dialogue held at SB 48 in May and how to participate in the Talanoa Dialogue.

Tokyo Forum for Clean City & Clear Sky

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) is pleased to announce that it will host the Tokyo Forum for Clean City & Clear Sky, an international conference on the environment. This forum will focus on several issues that major cities around the world are grappling with: waste management, sustainable resource management and air pollution. These issues were chosen in light of the global commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
