Global Adaptation Network (GAN): Catalyzing Adaptation Action through Knowledge Exchange

Outline

Global Adaptation Network (GAN), under UNEP’s initiative, and other regional networks such as Asia-Pacific Adaptation Network (APAN), Regional Gateway for Technology Transfer and Climate Change Action in Latin America and the Caribbean (REGATTA), Africa Adaptation Knowledge Network (AAKNet), West Asia Regional Network on Climate Change (WARN-CC) promote knowledge sharing of climate change adaptation inter-regionally since 2013. In this event, the latest experience will be shared and the strategic GAN activities will be discussed.

Summary

Global Adaptation Network (GAN), under UNEP’s initiative, and other regional networks such as Asia-Pacific Adaptation Network (APAN), Regional Gateway for Technology Transfer and Climate Change Action in Latin America and the Caribbean (REGATTA), Africa Adaptation Knowledge Network (AAKNet), West Asia Regional Network on Climate Change (WARN-CC) promote knowledge sharing of climate change adaptation inter-regionally since 2013. Key Messages

  • Issues relating to information sharing still need to be addressed even though there are many relevant networks currently under implementation.
  • Mutual learning on climate change adaptation among countries plays significant role. This is because there are still wide range of adaptation issues while climate change experience has been accumulated. In this sense, network like Global Adaptation Network (GAN) is important.
  • Participants agree that providing process which could deliver proper information is necessary.
