Ms. Ogawa highlighted the importance to tackle climate change and development in with a holistic and integrative approach to build a climate resilient and sustainable future.
Mr. Miyazaki, presented about the JICA's Co-Benefits of Climate Change for Climate Resilient and Sustainable Development (JCCRS) to promote Climate Resilient Development (CRD) in partner countries to realize sustainable society. JCCRS is an integrative, inclusive, and holistic approach that aims to achieve sustainable development while also yielding co-benefits with adaptation and mitigation to contribute to CRD.
Dr. Huy mentioned the significance of adopting holistic approaches, such as JCCRS, and provided an overview of how the Vietnamese government is integrating climate change into its development strategies. Furthermore, Dr. Huy emphasized the importance of involving stakeholders in the decision-making process of each project. By incorporating their perspectives, it becomes possible to carefully analyze the trade-offs associated with various actions. She also explained the functions of the Pacific Climate Center and highlighted the Capacity Building Function as a key driver for promoting Climate Resilient Development (CRD).
Mr. Kato highlighted the immense difficulty in promoting CRD and invited government, development partners and stakeholders to join forces to promote climate actions and sustainable development, akin to the efforts undertaken by JICA through JCCRS.
