To realize a hydrogen society, hydrogen gas turbines are key products for cutting-edge hydrogen power generation that contributes to low-carbonization and environmental preservation. By replacing conventional natural gas to hydrogen which does not emit CO2 but only H2O is left during combustion reaction, it can greatly contribute to decarbonization in energy sector on a global scale. MHPS will provide large-scale hydrogen gas turbine system ranging up to 700MW.

MHPS is part of the hydrogen conversion project at Vattenfall's Magnum GTCC Power Plant in The Netherlands. The first unit (M701F,440MW) to run on 100% hydrogen is expected to operate in 2025.

In the case of 400MW power generation, the hydrogen consumption of one gas turbine is mostly equivalent to the consumption amount by two millions of fuel-cell vehicles. CO2 reduction is mostly equivalent to the 2,500 km2 forest absorps. Therefore, a large-scale hydrogen gas turbine system has a potential to enhance huge hydrogen demand and CO2 reduction by utilities. It is expected that the widespread use of it can contribute to expanding the demand for hydrogen from renewable energy sources and so on and to establishing hydrogen society.
