Floating offshore wind turbines and hydrogen system open-up the new era of the decarbonization

The world’s first Typhoon-Resistant hybrid spar-type floating offshore wind turbine
The concept of decarbonized islands by utilizing floating offshore wind turbines and hydrogen system

We will exhibit a panel and a 1:100 scale model of the floating offshore wind turbine and a panel on decarbonizing remote islands by utilizing floating offshore wind turbines and hydrogen system.

We adopted the World’s first hybrid spar-type supporting structure (the lower part made of concrete and the upper part made of steel), and achieved the reduction of construction cost while maintaining a high stability. In 2013, one 2 MW floating offshore wind turbine was successfully installed. It has withstood the annual barrage of typhoons and was practicalized in 2016.

Additionally, we have demonstrated the technology to produce, store, and transport the hydrogen obtained from electricity generated by floating offshore wind turbine and rainwater. We have also built the 40-foot class hydrogen powered fuel cell boat and its successfully conducted a trial launch. We now established the technology to provide a stable supply electricity and achieving a decarbonized society.
