Towards Enhancing Climate Resilience in the Pacific: Lesson learnt and opportunities for linkage among regional climate change initiatives
Organiser
- JICA
- SPREP
Event Overview
Small island countries in the Pacific are experiencing severe adverse impacts of climate change. JICA has conducted a range of supports for enhancing climate resilience in the Pacific region and been currently constructing the Pacific Climate Change Center (PCCC) in Samoa under Japanese ODA (grant aid). PCCC will be a center for providing practical information, support and training to address climate change adaptation, mitigation, low carbon futures and finance. The Government of Samoa, SPREP and JICA will initiate a new technical cooperation for PCCC to assist countries in the Pacific region in enhancing their knowledge and capacities for climate resilience through conducting regional trainings. This session aims to share lesson learnt which might be useful for SIDS and other developing countries, by discussing experiences and findings from the past and on-going activities for enhancing climate resilience in the Pacific region.
