City Champions: Implementation of LCS action plans as city solution platform for Asian cities

Organiser

  • National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES)

Event Overview

Science to Action of LCS (Low Carbon Society) began in Asia in 2009 by initiative of NIES and others. Much has been achieved and much still needs to be done towards realising meaningful decarbonisation in the fast urbanising continent. This side event seeks to chart the way forward for implementation of future inclusive Asian low carbon cities. We have developed LCS scenario in Iskandar Malaysia and local governments, Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, etc in Malaysia; Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong City, Da Nang City, Can Tho City, and Hanoi City in Vietnam; Quezon City in Philippine. We also discuss about the role of cities to NDCs (Nationally Determined Contributions).
